Thank you from Wildlife Wednesdays

Thank you, Juneau, for the great talks and turnouts for the Alaska Wildlife Alliance’s fall/winter Wildlife Wednesday informal lecture series sponsored by AWA-SE. We appreciate each and every one of you who attended the talks. Your questions, shared information, views and visiting before and after the events enriched each Wildlife Wednesday experience. Special thanks to those of you who joined the Alaska Wildlife Alliance, as well as to those who signed up to receive our e-alerts.

Huge thanks go to our speakers Ron Antaya, Bob Armstrong, Tennie Bentz, Kerry Howard, Doug Jones, Wayne Regelin, Michelle Ridgway, Kate Savage and Ryan Scott. You informed, entertained, inspired and challenged us. You rocked!

Thank you to Heritage Coffee for donating coffee and condiments. We also enjoyed homemade cookies and brownies, thanks to the many generous volunteer co-hosts at AWA-SE — Jos Bakker, Gudrun Bergvall, Karla Hart, Irene Morris, Pat O’Brien and Patricia Wherry. And on many occasions, we enjoyed surprise cookies brought by event attendees. Thank you all for your generosity! And we appreciate the efforts of co-hosts and volunteers who gave extra time to help with event set-ups and take-downs.

Thank you, University of Alaska Southeast for your great community involvement. We appreciate the help we received from Jim Istursis and Sol Neely at UAS with securing the rooms for our lectures, and it was great to have Sara Hagen from the UAS Bookstore selling books at our January Wildlife Wednesday.

Many thanks go to those who helped with advertising and newspaper coverage: Josh Klauder at AWA for fliers; Jeff Brown and KTOO; Dennis Harris and Capital Copy; Amy Fletcher and Abby Lowell at the Juneau Empire; Sarah Day at the Capital City Weekly; Allison Bidlack at the Alaska Coastal Rainforest Center; Tennie Bentz at ADF&G; the Juneau Arts & Humanities Council; and all of the other great people and groups that help us so much. Huge thanks go to Jos Bakker, Patricia O’Brien and Patricia Wherry for posting Wildlife Wednesday fliers each month regardless of the weather.

Last, but by no means least, thank you to all of the board members of AWA for their support and help with AWA-SE’s Wildlife Wednesdays, and to all of the dedicated, generous AWA-SE board, advisory board, and active members who help in countless ways.

It is a privilege to share wildlife issues and enjoyment with those attending our Wildlife Wednesday presentations. It is exciting and fulfilling to discover and work with such informed, generous speakers — and through their expertise, illustrations, and photographs — to extend our knowledge and appreciation of wildlife and habitat. Indeed, we had a great time with our 2012/2013 Wildlife Wednesdays, and we are already looking forward to the fall 2013 series. You are going to love the speakers we’re lining up for you, so watch for details as autumn approaches!

Thank you, Juneau, for being such a generous, caring, and supportive community!
