Free computer classes are offered by The Learning Connection, located at 210 Ferry Way downtown. Classes this month include:
Living in a Digital World – Learn to Use the Tools for “Cloud-based” Computing and Social Networking meets Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5-7 p.m. starting May 1 through May 29. The course will include Google products Calendar, Drive, Sites (for web pages), Photos and Chrome; Social Networking sites Facebook, Pinterest and Linked-In; E-Commerce sites eBay, Craigslist etc.; and Security. Students may come to all classes or pick nights covering chosen topics. Students attending should have a basic understanding of computers and exposure to the internet.
Introduction to Microsoft Word 2010 meets Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5-7 p.m. May 2 through May 30. This course is for students in need of a course covering Word basics; new topics will be covered each evening, therefore it is recommended to commit to coming to all or most classes.
Also offered are workshops and open lab time for job search, resume creation, using ALEXsys and keyboarding.
Open lab time will be Mondays and Tuesdays from 9-11 a.m. and individual or small group instruction is available.
ALEXSYS job search workshops, co-facilitated with Juneau Job Center staff, will be held at TLC Thursdays May 9 and May 23 from 10 a.m-noon.
