The Alaska chapter of March of Dimes is hosting a March for Babies walk at the Dimond Fieldhouse Saturday at 10 a.m., with a 9 a.m. check in. Organizers of the event will be collecting dimes at the event with the goal of raising $10,000 or one mile of dimes.
There will be activities and treats for kids, including a bounce house, face painting, cotton candy and snow cones. Runners, walkers, skippers and kids in strollers are welcome participants in the walk.
The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. The organization provides mothers, pregnant women and women of childbearing age with educational resources on baby health, pregnancy, preconception and new motherhood, as well as supplying information and support to families affected by prematurity, birth defects, or other infant health problems.
