ADA Access Survey

Getting around in Juneau can be difficult enough with standing water, snow berms and bears to contend with; barriers to access such as curbs, stairs and narrow or obstructed paths all make walking, not to mention using a wheelchair, much more difficult but can be remedied once they are identified, unlike horizontal rain.

The City and Borough of Juneau ADA committee is collecting information on where barriers to access exist in our community. All Juneau residents should have received a survey in the mail a couple of weeks ago, asking them to help identify any barriers to access that they encounter on their way to work, shopping, school, or anywhere else they are trying to go. Anyone who has noticed possible barriers which prevent people from safely getting to community resources is encouraged to complete a survey.

If you routinely find yourself tripping on the same uneven sidewalk, struggling to reach a particular building, or otherwise experience difficulty reaching a given destination, please take a moment and tell us about it! Together, we are working to make Juneau a more convenient and accessible place to live. Surveys may be mailed to the ADA Committee, 155 South Seward, Juneau, Alaska 99801 or dropped off at one of our public libraries.

If you did not receive a survey in the mail or if you would like more information, contact Marianne Mills at 463-6154.
