The Home Energy Rebate program assists Alaskans who want an energy efficient home that is more comfortable and saves money. The program is open to all owner-occupied, year-round Alaskan homeowners who want to make energy efficiency improvements. A rebate of up to $10,000 is available depending on improvements made between a “before” and “after” energy rating.

Simple Steps to a Rebate
Step 1: Sign up on the waitlist by contacting the AK-REBATE call center at www.akrebate.com or call 1-8770257-3228.
Step 2: When your name reaches the top of the waitlist, your chosen energy rater will contact you to schedule an energy rating.
Step 3: The rater is paid directly by you for their service. The rater will provide you with a Home Energy Rebate program application and necessary documentation to send to AHFC. You will be entered into the program once the completed paperwork is submitted to AHFC and you will be reimbursed $325 toward the cost of the rating.
Step 4: You have 18 months from the date of your rating to do the recommended improvement work yourself or hire a contractor.
Step 5: After you have finished your improvements, contact the AK-Rebate Call Center and request a post-improvement rating.
Step 6: AHFC will reimburse $175 for the post-rating and up to $10,000 depending on the number of improvements made.
