Good deeds and acts of kindness

In the June 9 Empire is the obituary for my sister Carolyn Jean Simpson, who died in Missouri a week before.

Although she had cancer, and her death was not unexpected, when I got the call that she had passed, it was a very sad and emotional time for me. My 4 year old granddaughter Allison was sitting on my lap when the call came. Her Mother took her out of the room, but she came back a few minutes later, and said this:

“Grandma, are you sad?”

I said yes.

She said “Grandma I will paint your fingernails!”

I said thank you, but I just didn’t feel like it right now.

So she said, “Grandma, I could comb your hair”.

Again I said no, not right now.

Then she said, “I know, Grandma, I will brush your teeth!”

Well, it is true that a person can laugh through tears! She was trying so hard to make me feel better.

Even a four year old can show kindness!
