Spots still available at FIRST LEGO camp

STEM AK, a program of the Juneau Economic Development Council, is offering a series of summer camps as a fun way to stay engaged with science, technology, engineering and math activities.

A few of the camp programs are already complete — Fly to Learn Ground School, Geocaching and GPS Camp and App Camp, but, pending availability, there are more fun and educational options still this summer. While registration is closed for Kitchen Chemistry in August — you can get on the wait list — the FIRST LEGO Programming Camps are a promising option. The beginning camp is closed, though there is a wait list, and the advanced camp is still accepting participants. In Juneau, the camps are July 8 through 12, beginners from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and advanced from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. These camps are limited to 20 students each. There is also a coaches workshop for adults 6 to 8 p.m. All workshops are at Thunder Mountain High School and registration is $60. Ketchikan will have FIRST LEGO camps as well, from July 15-19 at Fawn Mountain Elementary School.
