Author Jean Morgan Meaux will give a presentation at the Alaska State Library’s Historical Collections division in the State Office Building on Monday, July 1 at noon. Meaux is the author of “In Pursuit of Alaska: An Anthology of Travelers’ Tales, 1879-1909.” The book, published by University of Washington Press, gathers 27 narratives written by early adventurers to Alaska, beginning with John Muir, and includes a forward by Stephen Haycox. Her presentation will include a slideshow featuring period Alaskan photos and maps.
Author Meaux lived in Anchorage from 1971 through 1985. She began work on the book while freelancing for the Anchorage Daily News, after finding source material in the rare book room at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Now a lawyer, she lives in Louisiana.
