Headed to Haines for the upcoming holiday? Haines hosts the third annual July 4 Music Festival from 4-11 p.m. at the Seward parade grounds. There will be music for the entire family, plus food and beverages.
Musical acts will include The Fishpickers, Hi-De-Hos, Julia Scott & the Durt Bags, The Irish Lords, Devine Funk, Lunchmeat & The Pimentos plus solo performers and local a capella choir, The Men Of Note.
Admission to the event is $10 for adults and $5 for youth ages 5 to 15. There will be a beer and wine garden and all proceeds will benefit a local scholarship program.
Other Haines festivities on the Fourth include breakfast at the American Legion Hall from 7-11 a.m., the Mount Ripinski run at 8 a.m., the cannon firing and parade, starting at 11 a.m., with kids’ bike decorating at 10 a.m. and parade line-up at 10:30 a.m. at the fire hall. Also at 11 a.m. will be fun and games for the whole family at Tlingit Park. The Classic Car Show is 2-5 p.m. The Haines Sportsman Association shooting range will host a trap shoot. Then there will be the cannon firing and flag lowering at 9 p.m., followed by the fireworks at 11 p.m.
