Caught in the act: Larry and the Chip-munks of Hoonah

Posted: July 7, 2013 - 12:00am

These neighbors from the Hoonah Senior Center gather to pack cedar chips in recycled-paper sleeves, which are then presented to each and every cruise ship passenger who visits Icy Strait Point this tourist season. The Seniors volunteer their time stuffing these wood chips and for each box of about 800, ISP/Huna Totem Corporation donates $40 to the Hoonah Senior Center to help offset the mounting bills for heat and electricity and keep the Senior program open for and viable to Hoonah’s elderly citizens.

This group is affectionately dubbed “Larry and the (Cedar) Chip-munks!”
