Running Camp

We would like to thank the community of Juneau for once again supporting the 2013 Lynn Canal Running Camp. Held at the Eagle River Methodist Camp, our third year included 33 teen runners of all abilities from Juneau, Ketchikan and Skagway.

Our camp would not be possible without the financial support of the Juneau Community Foundation and its Youth Action Committee, the Douglas Dornan Fund, Secon/CoAlaska, Juneau Emergency Medical Associates, Phil Moritz, Valley Medical Care, John Bursell, MRV Architects, Bryce Iverson, John Walsh and Co., Hecla Greens Creek Mine, Run ‘em Crazy to Lazy Dog Care, Theresa Arthur, John Nagel and many other Juneau individuals. In-kind support provided by Southeast Road Runners, Rainbow Foods, Breeze In and Nugget Alaskan Outfitters.

We thank Leah and David Francis, Hilary Young, Nathan Ord, Hunter Brown, Anne Bartholomew and Greg Frank for being safe, fun, adventurous camp counselors and support staff. Our head cook Linda Mancuso kept all camp attendees fed and hydrated while Sara and Maddy Poor coordinated our pizza night for 40-plus. John and Dawn Walsh, Houston Laws, Jim Powell, Jamie Bursell, Tommy Thompson, Brian Goetler, Bob Marshall, Jeff Machakos, Steve Davis, Guy Thibodeau provided support on our many running adventures. Thank you to Scott May, Jamie Bursell, Corey Pavitt, Houston Laws, Geoff Roes, Steve Wolfe, Jesse Miller and Alyson Cooney for the workshops and breakout sessions throughout the week.

This camp would not be possible without the support of the John Caouette Memorial Fund for providing initial seed money. To this end, our camp is dedicated to the life and spirit of John.

Merry Ellefson and Tristan Knutson-Lombardo
