Upcoming events and book review winners from the Juneau Public Libraries for the week of July 21

Coming up at the libraries are a host of events. Tomorrow night from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at the Douglas Library will be an author visit with Bill Butler.


On July 24, from 8-10 p.m. at the Douglas Library there will be an event aimed at teens and tweens. Join your favorite youth librarians for School Library Journal’s free online event, SummerTeen - Hot Books for Young Adults, which will feature the best-selling authors of the best books for teens under the sun! For a detailed program schedule, visit www.slj.com/summerteen. Join for any or all sessions that appeal to you. Teens, tweens, and those who love their literature are all welcome.

On July 25, at 6 p.m. at the Downtown Library is a TEDx Talk on the theme Success.

“We find ourselves living in a society often obsessed with the idea of success.

Success in business, success in relationships, success in finances, success

overall. The concept of success has changed over the years,” read a press release from the library. Video presenters will be: Philosopher Alain De Botton, Daniel Pink, former speechwriter for Al Gore and David Logan and business professor at USC. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Juneau Public Library. While all ages are welcome, this program is most appropriate for teens and adults.
