The Learning Connection’s free computer classes for the month of September begin Sept. 3.
Introduction to Computers will be offered Monday and Wednesday evenings, Sept. 4-30, from 5-7 p.m. This course is designed for beginning students or those needing a refresher in the basics of computer operation. It will cover everything from turning on your computer to file management, common programs and using the internet and web-based email.
Introduction to Microsoft Excel will be offered Tuesday and Thursday evenings, Sept. 3–26, from 5-7 p.m. This course is designed for students wanting to learn the basics of creating, formatting and incorporating basic formulas into spreadsheets.
In addition to these regular weekly classes, The Learning Center will offer an open lab on Monday mornings from 9-11 a.m. and on Tuesdays from 8:30-10 a.m. This open lab -- Job Search, Resume Creation, Using ALEXsys, Keyboarding and Open Lab Computer Training -- is open to individuals and small groups.
An ALEXsys Job Search Workshop will also be offered twice this month, on Thursdays Sept. 12 and Sept. 26 from 10 a.m.-noon. Students will learn to use the ALEXsys online tools to conduct a job search and build resumes.
All classes and workshops will take place at The Learning Connection, 210 Ferry Way downtown.
