Paint the town purple

The American Cancer Society - Relay for Life Juneau requests that Juneau paint the town purple to welcome Relayers for Life at Sea, making port in Juneau Tuesday, Aug. 27 on the Norwegian Jewel. Local organizers encourage Juneau residents to show support as hosts of these Relayers by showcasing purple displays in windows, adding purple to baked goods, placing purple ribbons on lightposts and trees, wearing purple, encouraging or allowing employees to wear purple clothing, purple ribbons or Relay for Life gear, adding purple balloons, showcasing support signs for Relay for Life or interactive “Why I Relay” signs, available online at, or placing donation buckets for Relay for Life or other organizations that benefit cancer patients or research. Juneau Relay organizers also suggest businesses consider offering discounts to cancer survivors and caregivers on Tuesday. Organizers also invite any and all to join them on the docks to welcome Relayers, with help being requested as early as 5:30 a.m. For information, visit the Juneau Relay website or contact organizers Christina Rich at or at 723-9907, Nate Vallier at or (808)854-7585, or Kym Mauseth at or 321-5966.
