Marie Darlin of the Empty Chair Committee was honored by the City and Borough of Juneau on June 26 for her volunteer service. In fact, she was honored during a meeting she had helped organize to discuss senior housing for the Capital City.

“Gastineau Heritage News,” a publication of the Gastineau Channel Historical Society, wrote in their August issue about Marie, who is the Society’s program arranger, “Mayor Merrill Sanford read the proclamation, which described her energy and passion for volunteering. Sanford said her volunteering in organizations that make Juneau and Alaska better places to live make her an exemplary model.”
