Donations sought for medical costs of 30-year resident

Kenwyn George, a 30-year Juneau resident with his wife Sandra, in July had a heart attack at the home of his son in the United Kingdom. His son performed CPR until the ambulance arrived and after 40 minutes was stabilized, but he suffered brain damage as a result and has been hospitalized since. George’s insurance does no cover rehabilitation in the UK, so the family has found a hospital in Colorado but monetary assistance is needed to cover the cost of transporting George from the UK to Colorado by air ambulance. The family is seeking cash donations in any amount to be deposited to the account of Sandra and KP George at Alaska USA Federal Credit Union.

George was an engineer with the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation and an involved community member. He has been a Big Brother with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Alaska, matched with Little Brother Michael for more than five years. He is a member of Toastmasters, Church of the Nazarene and the North Star Riders motorcycle club. He also sings with the Juneau Bach Society, Juneau Lyric Opera and in the annual gospel concert. He is an outdoors enthusiast who enjoys kayaking, hiking, nordic skiing and archery.

The family is grateful for any donations, no matter the size. The Georges made it to Colorado — the cost of the air ambulance was $64,548 — and are working on speech therapy at the hospital. For information, contact Dawn Duval at 209-8373.
