Thank you to Gruening Park

Participants pictured from left to right are: (top row) Pat Dobbins, Lynn White, Rose Marie Good, Judith Maier, Jeff Brown, Bonita Rohla, and Nancy Weaver; (bottom row) Mary Bergander, M'Iva Rickey, Norma Jean McCorcle, Donna Schultz, Vivian Hegg, and certified instructor Glen Ray. Not pictured are students Jean Jasmine and Beth Ridle.

On behalf of Catholic Community Service and the seniors who recently completed the 20-session Tai Chi course, I would like to express my appreciation for the support of Gruening Park for making their Community Room available to the Tai Chi Falls Prevention Program. The falls prevention program is funded through the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services using Tai Chi for Arthritis, developed by Dr. Paul Lam and recommended by the Centers for Disease Control as an effective way to help prevent falls and subsequent injuries for people 65 years and older.

A second series of Tai Chi classes for seniors, age 60 and over, will be offered in January. The number of students per class is limited, so we will be registering students on a first come, first serve basis. Those interested in registering for the January class should call Juneau Senior Center Manager Carol Comolli at 463-6175.
