College Track 3 to air on Alaska Public Media Monday

Locally-produced documentary “College Track 3” will be broadcast on KTOO-TV in Juneau, as well as Alaska Public Media stations KAKM-TV in Anchorage and KYUK-TV in Bethel, on Monday, Oct. 28 at 10 p.m.

Since 2004, the Alaska College Track Series has followed several rural Alaska Native college students on their path toward graduation, including Yakutat residents Amanda Bremner Porter, Ralph and Gloria Wolfe and Hydaburg residents Ben and Marita Young. The series documents the students’ struggle to balance a university education with efforts to preserve and rebuild their culture. It is produced by Pat Race of Lucid Reverie in association with Katie Bausler at UAS, with funding from First National Bank Alaska.

The airing will immediately follow “The Graduates,” a new film by Bernardo Ruiz on the Independent Lens public television program. “The Graduates” explores pressing issues in education today through the eyes of six Latino and Latina high school students from across the United States.
