Juneau community members will share personal stories in an event hosted by PFLAG Juneau, “Coming Out: Stories of Action and Reaction.” Storytellers will include Pat McLear, sharing her story of coming out as a lesbian, and Tom Cosgrove, telling about having an LGBT family member. PFLAG Juneau’s Pride Chorus will perform at the event. PFLAG invites community members to join them at 7 .m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, for an evening of storytelling and support, where you’ll “laugh, you will cry, but most importantly you will be moved by these two very talented local storytellers,” according to a press release. Tickets for the event, which includes light refreshments, are $15 and available at Hearthside Books. PFLAG Juneau, according to the organization’s website, provides support, to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten an ill-informed public; and advocacy, to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights. Parents, Friends & Families of Lesbians and Gays provides opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity.
