Thank you to our friends at Wells Fargo! Wells Fargo has been a tremendous support to AWARE over the years, and two occasions during October are especially meaningful. During the annual United Way Day of Caring, Wells Fargo volunteers came to AWARE for a huge clean-up project. Nine volunteers spent their morning hauling trash and clearing the basement of our shelter. Many hands made this project a great success, and this fall cleaning supports our work in maintaining our facility while staff focus on our day-to-day work of providing safety and confidential services for victims of domestic and sexual violence. Wells Fargo followed their day of service with a significant sponsorship of Girls on the Run, one of AWARE’s most successful prevention programs. Wells Fargo donated $5,000 to support our empowerment program for girls ages 8-14. The 12 week/24 lesson afterschool program combines training for a 5K running event with healthy living and self-esteem enhancing curricula. The Girls on the Run program aims to break the cycle of violence by providing girls and women tools to respect and honor themselves and make healthy lifestyle choices. We are so thankful to Wells Fargo for making it possible for AWARE to provide program scholarships and running shoes to any girl who needs it.

We are in awe and grateful to our partnership with Wells Fargo, for their initiative in supporting and recognizing AWARE and Girls on the Run of Southeast Alaska, to promote a thriving healthy community. Together we are building a better future today.

Sincerely,

Saralyn Tabachnick

Executive Director
