After a severe heart attack and complications while visiting his son in the United Kingdom, Juneau resident Kenwyn George is back home, but not without expansive medical costs. George has lived in Juneau with his wife Sandra for 30 years, was employed with the State of Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, and has been matched with Little Brother Michael for more than five years through Big Brothers Big Sisters. He is a member of Toastmasters, the Church of the Nazarene and the North Star Riders motorcycle club. He also has sang with local groups including the Juneau Bach Society, Juneau Lyric Opera and at the annual gospel concert.
The family will host a halibut dinner fundraiser with a silent dessert auction to help defray costs from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16 at the Church of the Nazarene, across Mendenhall Loop Road from Kodzoff trailer park. The menu will include garlic and parmesan baked halibut, roasted potatoes, green salad, peanut butter cup gelato, and refreshments. Supporters may bring desserts for auction. Bidding will close at 6 p.m. Any donations will help. For more information, contact Dawn Duval at 209-8373.
