Many hands make 2013 Gallery Walk a huge success

Two Fridays ago, Juneau kicked off the 2013 holiday season with one of the most successful Gallery Walk events ever. A fantastic turnout despite frigid temperatures (but no rain, at least), much art was viewed, many gifts were purchased and a moveable feast of refreshments enjoyed — we even closed off Front Street for a full-fledged block party, with a DJ and dancing and everything. The Downtown Business Association would like to thank everyone who made Gallery Walk possible: the Juneau Empire, for its generous advertising package and editorial coverage; Mayor Merrill Sanford, City Manager Kim Kiefer and the entire City Council for their tireless effort and advocacy; the Juneau Economic Development Council (JEDC), a key partner not only for Gallery Walk, but downtown revitalization in general; the Juneau Police Department for providing event safety and, of course, DJ Manu for the block-rocking beats. Most of all, we heartily thank the people of Juneau. This is just the first of many community events currently in the works. Your support is critical to revitalizing, re-inventing and, above all, re-invigorating the Capital City.

Thanks again, and happy holidays,

Jill Ramiel, President, Downtown Business Association – Juneau; Owner, Silverbow Restaurant Bakery & Inn
