Request for submissions for poems and stories

The planning committee for Juneau’s One Billion Rising for Justice events is looking for a story or poem about the empowerment of women moving toward a world without violence against women and girls, with justice for all. The deadline for submissions is midnight, Feb. 1, and the submission should be performed in under four minutes. Submissions should be sent to 1billionrisingjuneau@gmail.com.

The winning piece will be selected by the Juneau One Billion Rising planning committee and all entrants will be contacted by Feb. 10. The winning selection may be read at our Feb. 14 Juneau One Billion Rising event at noon in the atrium of the State Office Building and at 2:15 p.m. at University of Alaska Southeast Mourant Plaza. Writers are encouraged to post their writings on the international One Billion Rising website.
