On Feb. 21, the Shrine of St. Therese Board hosted a Mardi Gras Masquerade Gala at the Baranof Hotel. The night was a great success and thanks are owed to many people and businesses.
A special thanks to the Knights of Columbus Assembly #1992 for sponsoring the event. The Knights do an incredible amount of charitable work throughout Southeast Alaska and their support of the shrine is deeply appreciated.
Alaskan Brewing donated two kegs for the event and the Baranof very kindly donated the use of the rooms. Martha’s Flowers donated lovely centerpieces.
The following businesses and individuals donated items for the silent auction: A.J. Mine, Alaska Canopy Adventures, Alaska Quest Charters, Davida Alhgren, Alpaca International, Annie Kaill’s, Margie and Jack Beedle, Bishop Edward Burns, Coastal Helicopters, Deirdre Darr, Ann Doty, Ed’s Edible Landscaping, Dick Fagnant, Foodland IGA, Gastineau Guiding, Greens Creek Mine, Home Depot, Louise Miller, Mount Roberts Tramway, Mountainside Wellness, NorthStar Trekking, Nuggest Alaskan Outfitters, Perseverance Theater, Rainbow Foods, Rie Muñoz Gallery, Tisket Sessler, Silverbow Inn & Bakery, Budd and Paulette Simpson, Jean Strafford, Superbear Supermarket, Temsco, Maria and Carl Uchytil, Western Auto, Wings Airways and WP&YR.
Dessert auction items were donated by: Abby’s Kitchen, Deirdre Darr, Nancy Hemenway, Colleen Jardell, Jeanne Jordan, Paula Rohrbacher, Paulette Simpson and Ruth Vincent.
Many thanks to all those who attended the Gala and helped to make it a success. The Shrine raised $16,000 – about $9000 short of our goal. It’s still not too late to help reach our goal. If you would like to donate, please call the shrine’s business office at 780-6112 or visit our webpage – it’s possible to make a donation to “Gala Fundraiser.”
