Thank you from TMHS Interact Club

If you were to do what we did in Uganda for 11 days, your hope for the American teenager would be restored. Eleven students fully engaged in service, in doing justice and showing mercy. They laughed often, cried freely and loved fully.

They forgot to blog, left their dishes around the apartment, stayed up too late, dressed without regard to occasion from time-to-time and managed to do more good in 11 days than many of us do in a year.

They sang off-key and shouted “thank you” in Luganda when they thought they were saying “hello.” They represented our country with courage and kindness, with the skill of seasoned diplomats.

No “good-byes,” just “see you soon” to our many new friends. We brought books and medicine, clothing, and blessed bags, 23 duffles full of Juneau’s compassion. We read books, played games, delivered mosquito nets and food, shared our stories, and bridged cultural barriers. We returned home with empty bans and abundantly full hearts.

Who are we to have been so richly blessed? May be humbly be found worthy of the gift of 11 days in Uganda.

Eleven high school students experienced 11 days in Uganda serving at schools, a local hospital, and several homes for street children. With love and gratitude we thank the community of Juneau that so generously supported our project in Uganda. You donated money and materials that made such a big impact. We carried your gifts with care and were honored to be your messengers of compassion.
