Amundsen, Barnkow wed

Grace Amundsen and Scott Barnkow wed on June 2 at the Shrine of St. Therese in Juneau. A reception was held at Glacier Gardens.

The bride is the daughter of Sheri Amundsen (deceased) and Jim Amondsen of Anchorage. The groom is the son of David Barnkow of Erie, Colorado, and Patty Germain of Bellingham, Washington.

The wedding was officiated by Fr. Pat Casey O.M.I. The bride was attended by her maid of honor Debra Crawford and Bethany Brunelle Freudenthal, Sarah Amundsen and Diego Davila Lourenco de Lima. The flower girls were Ellie and Dori Germain. The groom was attended by his best man Dylan Thomas and Sallie King, Monika Barnkow and Mike Maas. The ring bearer was Madeline Germain.

The bride graduated from Service High School in Anchorage and attended the University of Alaska Fairbanks. She works at Parametrix in Puyallup, Washington. The groom attended Green Mountain High School in Lakewood, Colorado, and is employed at Dzantik’i Heeni Middle School.

The couple is making there home in Alaska for now but plans to move to Washington soon.

They met playing Magic the Gathering at the Juneau Gamers Coop, and proposed to each other there two and a half years later after playing a game to determine who got to propose first (Scott won). The wedding was geek themed, from the Imperial March (Darth Vader’s Theme) as the recessional to a truly awesome geode cake made by AK Bake and topped by a dinosaur cake topper made by the bride.
