Thank you Juneau Arts and Humanities Council

We give heartfelt thanks to Juneau Arts and Humanities Council for its support after the June 1 on-site break-in and robbery. I am one of several artists displaying there who lost pieces, the work that went into them and the income that might come from them. Some were planned to open our website. Alaska Native Arts was hard-hit.

JAHC helped dynamically. JAHC personnel, in particular Meghan Garrison and Jan La Roe. Along with other JAHC staff and volunteers, they picked up broken pieces and sorted what remained of each artist’s work. They had our few remaining pieces back on display for June’ First Friday art walk, though the robbery had occurred just that morning. They worked hard to identify what broken pieces belonged to which artist. It was a huge effort.

We were thankful that the JAHC Board compensated artists’ losses. We’ve been able to reinvest into our small company, and keep growing, despite our major losses.

We truly appreciate JAHC for its tremendous investment in the Juneau arts community.

Thank you JAHC.

Rudolph M. Isturis, Jr.,

Owner of Alaska Native Arts.
