Thank you, Safeway

Juneau Youth Services (JYS) wants to thank Safeway/Albertsons for the very generous grant to help support the Cornerstone Emergency Shelter. Cornerstone is a 24/7 shelter for youth between the ages of 10 and 20. JYS has been providing shelter and behavioral health services to children and youth in Juneau since 1961 (as the Juneau Receiving Home until 1986). The Juneau Safeway sponsored our grant request and deserves a special recognition.

In 2016 alone, along with the Albertsons Companies Foundation, the company gave nearly $300 million in food and financial support. These efforts helped millions of people in the areas of hunger relief, education, cancer research and treatment, programs for people with disabilities and veterans outreach. With Safeway’s help, Cornerstone will continue to serve youth struggling with homelessness from Juneau and from throughout the state. Safeway’s commitment to those in need is appreciated more than we can write in a letter, but in an effort to try: thank you, Safeway, for your help.
