The Juneau Community Charter School expresses its gratitude to the many organizations and individuals who offered assistance and support for its recent 20th anniversary celebration.
Richard Bloomquist and the crew at Mar y Sol catered the event, preparing delicious food and drink for about 200 people. Sysco, Fred Meyer, Costco, Safeway, Rainbow Foods, Myers Group (IGA), and Heritage Coffee donated gift cards, store credit, or food that enabled us to provide almost all the ingredients and gear for the dinner at no cost to the school. The money raised will go into the school’s student activities fund, to help with costs of field trips, supplies, and other items, benefiting current and future students.
The Juneau School District and Juneau Douglas High School provided the venue for the event, and the school’s maintenance crew was very helpful in meeting all our needs, from setting up tables to the clean-up.
Many individuals contributed time and materials to help make our celebration a memorable event for all. The former and current students, teachers, and their families who pitched in to help with the event in ways big and small are too numerous to mention individually. Others with no direct connection to the school also contributed their time and talents. Please, all of you, know that your help was more than appreciated — indeed, it embodied what is unique and important about the school: the idea that we all contribute as a community, and that we’re all elevated as a result. It was good to come in from the cold and rain and spend a few hours together reflecting on the school’s founding and how far we’ve come. We’ve done it together.
