The Juneau People to People Student Ambassador middle and high school delegations would like to thank Reps. Cathy Muñoz, Beth Kerttula, Sen. Egan, Aurora Hauke, and Bonnie Gruening for taking the time to meet with us this April at the Capitol. We appreciate hearing about their personal experiences and getting advice on traveling and making connections with people from different parts of the world. Their words of encouragement will come a long way as our students practice their ambassadorial skills on our trip to Australia this summer.

The Zach Gordon Alumni Fund thanks the members of the Juneau High School class of 1954 for their recent donation. Since the JHS class of 1954 is not having another reunion, their officers decided that the money remaining from former reunions be turned over to the Zach Gordon Alumni Fund to be used in ways they know Zach would have approved. Specifically, it helped provide a scholarship for a deserving 2013 graduate.

Graduates of Juneau-Douglas High School class of ‘73 are invited to celebrate a 40th reunion with classmates on solstice weekend, June 21-23.

Friday, June 21 beginning at 4 p.m. at Sandy Beach there will be a potluck picnic with burgers and hot dogs provided. On Saturday, June 22, there is a cruise and dinner at Orca Point Lodge at 5 p.m. Wind up the weekend Sunday with the famous Taku Lodge Salmon Bake and flight seeing with Wings of Alaska. Juneau’s Hannah Wolf, the daughter of Steve Wolf and Bev Ingram and a Juneau-Douglas High School and Western Washington University graduate, has received a prestigious Fulbright Scholarship to work with Romanian theatre artists, including directing, developing and translating new works with playwrights.

Wolf will start her Fulbright program after September and will stay in Romania until June 2014. She also plans to direct a Romanian play when she returns to the United States.
