I told a woman on the phone the other day, who has never been here before, that there were no roads in or out of Juneau.
Her mind was blown.
“What a way to live,” she said.
Indeed it is, and I’m not surprised she found it unusual. But unimaginable? It’s not that crazy — is it?
“But how do you get to school?” she asked.
“Well, I do have a car. It’s not to say we don’t have roads here,” I replied.
“Oh, I know, but I mean, like, college. How do you get to college?” she continued.
“Ahh…,” was all I could reply.
