Umpires needed for upcoming Adult Slow Pitch Softball season

The Juneau Douglas Officials Association and Juneau Softball Association are looking for slow-pitch softball umpires for the upcoming season.

Starting next month, umpire training will be held once a week from 6-8 p.m. in Thunder Mountain High School. The classes, which fall on every Thursday between March 8 and April 26, cover rules, mechanics, managing the game and handling play situations.

Umpires are needed two to three games per night and one to five nights a week Monday through Friday. In addition, umpires will be called upon for three weekend tournaments during the season, which begins in May and ends in August.

Contact the Juneau Softball Association at 463-3633 to learn more.
