JPD releases video images of liquor store robbery

The Juneau Police Department on Friday released video stills and a surveillance video clip from Monday night’s robbery of a Lemon Creek liquor store robbery.

At 10:01 p.m. Monday, JPD received a 911 call from a male employee at the Liquor Barrel store reporting the robbery, JPD spokeswoman Erann Kalwara said. The employee stated that a man came into the store, threatened him with pepper spray, took money and then left the area on foot. The employee was not injured.

Officers arrived on scene and began an investigation and search for the suspect, who was described as being a white man about 6-foot-2, with a thin build and reddish-brown eyebrows. He was wearing a camouflage scarf or bandana over his face, gray hoodie sweatshirt, blue jeans and black shoes with white highlights.

The cash was placed into a black mesh bag before being taken from the store. The cash has not been recovered and the suspect has not been located; Kalwara declined to state how much money was taken.

“Officers did work on the investigation through the week and decided it would be important to get the images out to the public,” Kalwara said Friday, noting that the two-tone grey sweatshirt worn by the suspect is pretty distinctive. “If anyone knows who this is or where they are, they can call the department.”
