Hospital says car crash victim is in 'satisfactory condition'

The passenger who was injured in a single vehicle rollover accident on Egan Drive is currently in “satisfactory condition” at a Seattle hospital.

Harborview Medical Center spokeswoman Susan Gregg said the patient, whom police identified as 23-year-old Juneau resident Siaosi Maake, is currently listed under that condition status.

Maake was a passenger in a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro that rolled over near the Egan Drive and Glacier Highway intersection Wednesday afternoon.

Both he and the driver, whom police say they believe is his cousin, 22-year-old Juneau resident Silver Maake, were taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital after the crash, and Maake was later medevaced to Seattle for further medical care.

Police said earlier that Silver Maake lost control of the vehicle and it left the roadway and struck a light pole alongside Egan Drive. Speed was a suspected factor in the crash, police said.
