Empire editorial: New features for you on Empire website

Your online edition of the Juneau Empire just made its next leap into the future of electronic journalism.

It’s better, faster and easier to use.

The new site features better site navigation. Some important parts of our site were scattered across external sites for technical reasons. Now they’ll be integrated into the core site with single sign-on for interactivity.

The type is larger and easier to read. The links are easier to click.

Mobile users, we have good news. If you visit with a smartphone or other mobile device, you’ll get a mobile-optimized version of juneauempire.com. If you follow a link from Facebook or Twitter, you’ll get a mobile-optimized page. You can read and write comments from a mobile device, too.

Try it today and see how www.juneauempire.com allows you, the reader, to also be the writer. Post a personal profile and photo. Comment on stories or columns, and we’ll notify you by e-mail if you wish when people comment on your posts. Regular users, as well as Juneau Empire staffers, can create a public profile, upload a picture to be displayed with posts, and “follow” other users. Profiles include handy links to items each user has posted on the site.

With our new content management software we can better protect the quality of community debate by banning spammers and abusive posters and keeping them out.

Better.

Faster.

Friendlier.

More interactive.

The new online home of the Juneau Empire awaits you. And there’s more to come. Nothing on the Web is really ever finished. The new site is a foundation for future development, including useful databases, broader community conversation and more multimedia features.

We welcome your ideas and suggestions.
