Despite the plans of Gov. Bill Walker, despite the wishes of almost all of Alaska’s 736,732 people, Alaska’s legislators have quit.
On Thursday, the Legislature passed a resolution allowing all legislators but those in the House and Senate finance committees to take a break until May 12.
As we write these words, the sun is shining on Gastineau Channel, and there are happy faces even in the lines at DIPAC’s community day, visible from the windows of the Empire’s offices. With so much bright happiness, the temptation is to look at the bright side of Thursday’s move.
