By now, everyone knows the price paid by Michael Blaisdell last weekend. The 35-year-old visitor from Orlando, Florida, died when he fell down a steep, rocky slope off the Mount Roberts trail.
We still don’t know why — and we may never have an answer.
His family will mourn him, as will the friend who welcomed Blaisdell to Juneau. You probably thought about them after hearing Blaisdell’s story: “Oh, how sad,” you might have said. “I can’t imagine what his family must be going through.”
Our thoughts went there as well, then traveled farther.
