East Glacier Trail access limited due to construction

Trail access to the East Glacier trail is limited this spring as work continues on the Trail of Time near the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center the U.S. Forest Service stated in a release Friday.


The Upper Steep Creek Bridge is also out of service.

According to the release, Admiralty Construction is completing the final work on the Trail of Time from the Upper Steep Creek Bridge to the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center.

The release stated access to the East Glacier Trail is not available from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday, until May 15. In addition, the only access to the East Glacier Trail during this time is via the MGVC staircase after 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and all day on Sundays.

The Mendenhall Glacier Recreation Area is closed between midnight and 6 a.m. year-around.

Entering the construction zone during work hours is dangerous and prohibited.
