On April 9, with morning temperatures in the mid to high 20s, amid a mixture of snow and rain, 12 members of the Juneau Trap Club met for their monthly three-event shoot.
The temperature warmed into the 30’s during the events only to cool as rain and hail/snow fell in the mid- to late-afternoon.
This month’s event was an Amateur Trap Association shoot where shooters also had the ability to cross register with PITA. The three events were fired in the order of singles, handicap and doubles.
Singles (12 entries) — A Class: Pete Hudson, 99/100 (overall winner), Hank Masters, 96/100, and Jay Davis, 92/100. B Class: Mal Menzies, 96/100 (winner), Ken Pearson, 95/100, Doug Solberg, 95/100, Bud Burnett, 94/100, Mike Gabel, 90/100, Dennis Travis, 86/100. C Class: Tim Anderson 87/100 (winner), John Joyce, 82/100 (John shot his first 25/25 in a registered shoot), and Kim Curtis, 80/100.
Handicap (11 entries) — Long Yardage: Hank Masters, 91/100 (winner), Pete Hudson, 68/100 and Jay Davis, 62/100. Short Yardage: Ken Pearson, 93/100 (overall winner), Mal Menzies, 87/100, Mike Gabel, 86/100, Dennis Travis, 83/100, Bud Burnett, 83/100, Tim Anderson, 78/100 and Kim Custer, 76/100.
Doubles (nine entries) — B Class: Hank Masters, 92/100 (overall winner), Jay Davis, 89/100, and Pete Hudson, 86/100. C Class: Ken Pearson, 86/100 (winner), Mal Menzies, 79/100, Bud Burnett, 75/100, Mike Gabel, 71/100, Tim Anderson, 71/100, and Dennis Travis, 69/100.
High-Overall winner was Hank Masters with a score of 279/300. Runner-up was Ken Pearson with 274/300.
