Discovering spring in Southeast

JUNEAU — Local youth, ages 7 to 12, are invited to hike, learn and have fun as they accompany local naturalists with Discovery Southeast in search of signs of spring on Monday, April 25, on North Douglas.

The day will include nature-inspired activities, games, art and more. Transportation is provided and pick-ups are at 8:30 a.m. at Riverbend Elementary School, and 9 a.m. at Harborview Elementary School. Drop-offs are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Harborview, and 4 p.m. at Riverbend.

Students are asked to bring a sack lunch, snacks, water in a backpack and to dress appropriately for the weather. Space is limited. Call 463-1500, to register. Buckwheat Classic registration opens

Registration is now open for the 31st annual Buckwheat Ski Classic. The cross-country ski race will be held on March 25 on the Log Cabin Ski Trails north of Skagway and include 50K, 25K and 10K classic races as well as a 5K kids race.
