Discover lichens living near the Mendenhall

The public is invited to participate in a nature hike from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday in search of lichens at the Mendenhall Glacier Recreation Area.

Chiska Derr will lead an introductory lichen walk as part of the Saturday Wild hiking series and teach participants how to identify some of the species of lichen found in the area.

Bring a hand lens if you have one. Meet at bus parking lot.
