Posted: January 6, 2012 - 12:01am

If you’ve been looking for an opportunity to get involved in snow sports — or learn a new one — now is the time. January is learn to ski and snowboard month at Eaglecrest.

Highlighting the theme “humans were never meant to hibernate,” Eaglecrest and ski areas in other parts of the country are offering special package deals and a range of classes tailored for beginning skiers and snowboarders.

Here’s a look at some of the options:

The Triple Play Learners Pack: Designed for ages 7 to adult, this package includes three days of lessons, lower mountain lift tickets, and equipment rental for $109.

Sunday Morning Learners Special: For adults who want to learn to ski or board, this includes a two-hour lesson, lower mountain lift ticket, and equipment rental for $29.

First Tracks: For women learning to ski or board for the first time, this class is scheduled for this Saturday and Jan. 15. This program includes continental breakfast, tips from Eaglecrest female ski pros, and a two-hour lesson. Women who sign up with a friend will each receive a $10 discount on the program fees.

Other promotions during January include a Learn to Adapt: Adaptive Ski and Snowboard Awareness Day and a Learn to Nordic series for skate and classic lessons. Space is limited in all lessons and reservations are required. Call 790-2000 ext. 211.

Children and adults are encouraged to learn from a professional instructor.
