Celebration of Admiralty Island to be held

An event in honor of Admiralty Island, will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. on March 10 at the Juneau Arts and Culture Center. Presented by Friends of Admiralty Island, the free event will feature presentations and discussions with some of the region’s top scientists, writers, artists and thinkers.

The event will kick off with a panel discussion including marine biologist Jan Straley, author John Straley, wildlife biologist Matt Kirchhoff, professor of geophysics Dr. Roman Motyka and fish biologist and researcher Dr. Mason “Buck” Bryant with moderator Richard Carstensen. At 4:30 p.m., a panel of artists and authors will convene, including artist R.T. “Skip” Wallen, author John Howe, wilderness guide and author Lynn Schooler, Tlingit wood carver Jamie Daniels and cinema photographer Joel Bennett with moderator Sharron Lobaugh.
