ADA launches 'Food Hero' contest

FAIRBANKS — The Alaska Division of Agriculture has launched a Local Food Hero Contest during which Alaska youth will nominate adults in their community who have inspired them about locally-grown food.

To find out how to nominate a Local Food Hero, go to and click on the “Farm to School” tab under the “Programs” header. The application form, a sample project and relevant contact information is also available on the website.

“Youth are one of Alaska’s greatest resources,” Division Director Franci Havemeister said. “By increasing their understanding of the benefits of local production, they become a strong force for change. We look forward to honoring food heroes who educate our youth and enhance our industry.”
