Fresh air, vistas and art at Eagle Beach

A new event is being held this year, focussed on painting and photography, amid the scenery at Eagle Beach State Recreation Area all day on Saturday, May 19.

It’s called “Art for Park’s Sake” and it is part of the Arts in the Parks program, a family-oriented initiative that highlights the scenic attributes of Alaska’s State Park system, according to the State Parks website. Participants will enjoy free camping on Friday and Saturday. Artists, friends and families are encouraged to attend this all-ages event. Group art projects are planned, as well as fun activities for kids.

Art from this event will be displayed on Sept. 8 at the Nugget Mall, in conjunction with Community Service Day.
