Juneau Youth Sailing courses begin June 11

Locals are invited to learn the thrill of sailing by participating in courses offered by the Juneau Youth Sailing Club.

 

In a release from the volunteer-run, Juneau non-profit, the organization stated that “sailing teaches confidence, leadership, and boating skills.”

This year, classes run from June 11 to August 11. They are as follows:

Juniors morning classes:

• June 11-15

• June 18-22

• July 9-13

• July 16-20

Level 1 afternoon classes:

• June 11-15

• June 18-22

• July 9-13

• July 16-20

Level 2 classes:

• June 25-28 (long days, 4-day week)

• July 23-27 (long days)

Level 3 classes:

• July 30-Aug 1 (Long days, 3-day week)

Adult classes:

• July 28 (long day)

• August 11 (long day)

In addition to sailing classes, the Juneau Youth Sailing program also offers Friday Night Adult Races. Races run from 6-8 p.m. every Friday, from May 11 through the end of August. The race series is an adult program for experienced sailors ages 16 and older. Race experience, however, is not required.
