The Juneau Gun Club held the annual Jim Brooks Memorial Doubles Trap Shoot on June 2.
The shoot is a 150 pair event with the participants attempting to break all 300 “birds”.
The weather was very reasonable, with temperatures in the mid-40s to low-50s. Showers came and went all day, but the group did have some sun after weeks of overcast and low clouds.
This trap shoot drew only six club members. That’s because some of the membership elected to take on a two-day weekend trap shoot in Whitehorse, on their way to Fairbanks for the Alaska State PITA trap shoot. That event runs Wednesday, June 6 through Sunday, June 10.
This ATA event found six members shooting:
“B” Class, Jay Davis, winner, 265/300 (88.3 percent), Pete Hudson, second, 256/300 (85.3 percent).
“C” Class, Hank Masters, winner, 249/300 (83 percent), Mal Menzies, 246/300 (82 percent), Wayne Bertholl’s, 218/300 (72.7 percent) and Fred Bergander, 210/300 (70 percent).
