Marvin Seda, 80 years old, caught the this 45-pound white king on June 6 at Point Salisbury, just south of Juneau, on the high tide.

The Juneau Empire’s Outdoors page is looking for photographs of big fish you’ve caught this year in the waters of the northern Panhandle and beyond. Send your photos to: Abby Lowell, outdoors@juneauempire.com. Include the name of the photographer, the name of the person who caught the fish, its size and weight, and where and when it was caught.

Buckwheat Classic registration opens

Registration is now open for the 31st annual Buckwheat Ski Classic. The cross-country ski race will be held on March 25 on the Log Cabin Ski Trails north of Skagway and include 50K, 25K and 10K classic races as well as a 5K kids race.
