On Saturday, July 14, three squads of Juneau Gun Club members met to honor the memory of departed member Tom Freeman in a 300 singles target marathon.
The weather began as a 45 degree F overcast day with light showers and warmed to a mostly clear and warm day; temperatures rose to the high 60s. We shot in three classes with surprising close scores in all classes.
The high overall winner was Jay Davis with a 283/300 (94.3 averages). Tying for runner-up was Bud Burnett and Mal Menzies, both with 282/300 (94 average). Burnett won a shoot-off hitting 25 straight against Menzies’ 23/25.
All scoring was as follow’s:
A Class: Jay Davis, winner, 283/300; Mal Menzies, 282/300; Pete Hudson, 281/300 and Hank Masters, 279/300.
B Class: Bud Burnett, winner, 282/300; Doug Solberg, 281/300; Fred Wilson, 274/300 and Mike Curtis, 265/300.
C Class: Dennis Travis, winner 270/300 and Wayne Bertholl, 258/300.
