ADF&G: Potter Marsh access now limited due to vandalism

Due to an increase in vandalism at the Potter Marsh boardwalk in the Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge, The Alaska Department of Fish an d Game has announced today that the parking lot gate will now be closed.

In a release, the organization stated that the gate will be closed at 10 p.m. each night and reopened at 6 a.m. All vehicles in the boardwalk parking lot must be removed by closing time. As fall progresses, the closing times will occur earlier each evening to correspond with the shortened days. Closing times are posted at the gate and in the parking lot.

The boardwalk provides easy access for more than 100,000 visitors annually who come to enjoy the wildlife viewing, scenic vistas and educational opportunities at the marsh. There is one-half mile of elevated boardwalks, short trails and other sites available for the public to enjoy.

Anyone with information on those responsible for the vandalism is encouraged to contact the Anchorage Police Department at 907-786-8900 or the ADF&G in Anchorage at 907-267-2281.
